Be A Witness

Be A Witness is created with two main purposes: first to share the stories of refugees and give voice to their experiences and conditions, and second, to share Jesus with refugee communities.

We will share the stories through this website and social media. Be A Witness Facebook and Instagram are linked in the header above. I have some larger projects in mind for the future, but I will start with the Blog. My heart in sharing these stories is to bring understanding, love and compassion. There are many stereotypes about refugees, and I want to counteract those with real stories of real people. We are all called to love. I hope my stories will inspire more love. I also want to testify about how Jesus is meeting refugees in powerful ways around the world. It is inspiring to hear the lengths God will go to reach people with His love.

My main partners on the ground are Shapoor and Isa (see below). We have done several trips that you can read about in the Blog. Shapoor and Isa are heroes of mine. They both work full time with refugee communities. Short term trips are a chance for people to come and put God’s love in action. During past trips, we have done conferences for refugee churches where we had the opportunity to teach, pray for people, and worship together. We have also done social programs to distribute food and needed items. In all things, we want every person we meet to know they are loved by us and by Jesus.

We plan to do more trips in the future. Travel is more complicated these days, but we are believing God has perfect timing and plans. Sign up below to stay in the loop about future trips.

My heart is also to support ministries and individuals working with refugees full time. This would include Shapoor and his ministry Operation Promises, and Isa. I would like to support these groups in prayer and in finances. Again, I will share opportunities through the email list, so be sure to sign up!

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

Isaiah 61:1-3 (NKJV)
